Life is one big Inspiration

What I do and Why I do it.

My songs tell stories and look for truth in everyday experiences that many of us share. Over the years the music has evolved, just as we all have. My hope is that some of the lyrics and melodies will inspire you to find your own inner minstrel and a little peace in what can often be a busy rush of daily life. I encourage you to grab your beverage of choice and enjoy.

In December of 2022 life changed. My son James took his own life at age 36. Since 2022 songwriting and performing for me has changed as well, with a balance of grief and gratitude eventually coming forth in my newer songs. it is my hope that the songs that are finding their way out reflect the unimaginable pain, sorrow and growth that parents and families feel at the loss of one loved so deeply as we loved Jay.

Mourning Sun was written a few weeks after Jay passed, and it shares early experiences in not knowing where love belongs when one we love so much passes. It also occurred to me that those of us that go on living greet each day with the realization that our love continues, even though the physical presence of our child is no longer on earth. “There are songs in us all that are waiting to be sung, and there are days when I hear them on the breezes. There are times in our lives that we cherish as they pass, but the pass just as surely as the breeze does.”

Seasons, by Jane Foote.

Not a one trick Pony…

Music is a constant source of divine connection that has brought me many new friendships and taught me so much about listening to the truth in all things.

My other great passion has been over 40 years as a RN, professor, Dean of Nursing, holistic nurse and health care leader. The two passions actually inform one another! What is better to reflect on and sing about than life, death, healing, learning and giving oneself fully into our purpose for living?
